چکیده

Jim Walsh ([email protected]) specializes in dynamical systems, having earned a Ph.D. from Boston University under the direction of G.R. Hall in 1991. His research interests increasingly center on applied dynamical systems and mathematical modeling. He is fortunate to have had the opportunity to spend a recent sabbatical at the University of Minnesota, participating in Richard McGehee’s seminar on mathematics and climate. He is, above all, lucky to be the husband of Debbi and father of Zachary and Alexandra.

Comparison of impact of climate change on building energy-saving design for two different climates; Metropolitans of Moscow and Tehran

In the present study, in order to monitor and project climate change impacts on model of the bioclimatic design, a comparative study was conducted between the Middle East and Eurasia as two different climates. This paper used the basic data from 1990 to 2010, and the CMIP5 climate models have been used to project the climate data (radiation, temperature, wind speed, and relative humidity) from ...

Gyroscope Random Drift Modeling, using Neural Networks, Fuzzy Neural and Traditional Time- series Methods

In this paper statistical and time series models are used for determining the random drift of a dynamically Tuned Gyroscope (DTG). This drift is compensated with optimal predictive transfer function. Also nonlinear neural-network and fuzzy-neural models are investigated for prediction and compensation of the random drift. Finally the different models are compared together and their advantages a...

Wavelet Analysis and Ocean Modeling: A Dynamically Adaptive Numerical Method ‘‘WOFD-AHO’’

Wavelet analysis provides information on the energy present at various scales and locations throughout a computational domain. This information is precisely the information that is needed to define the appropriate gridpoint densities and the appropriate numerical order to resolve the physics at hand in the computationally most efficient manner. Here a two-dimensional version of the numerical me...

Climate downscaling for estimating glacier mass balances in northwestern North America: Validation with a USGS benchmark glacier

[1] An atmosphere/glacier modeling system is described for estimating the mass balances of glaciers in both current and future climate in order to estimate their probable future contributions to rising sea level. Dynamically downscaled output from a regional atmospheric model, driven by global atmospheric reanalysis, is used to force a precipitationtemperature-area-altitude (PTAA) glacier mass ...
